Its true and we can not deny it, the night life here in our beloved city Karachi, and in almost all parts of Pakistan, is kind of becoming the more appreciable way of living one's life and earning status in the high class fraternity. Now what exactly do I mean by night life? Yes it's the party lifestyle, the dance floors, the tequila shots, the whores and hookers, the infamous sex, drugs and booze is all that's "In" these days. Normally you wouldn't see a normal upper middle class person indulging himself into these acts of fun, as some might term them to be. Its this money laden lobby of people who have no fear of the Almighty whatsoever. Every body these days gets all excited these days when word spreads of any activity of this sort, be it underage teenagers or men who might just have to take a pill just to keep up with all the excitement. In Karachi, activities of this sort are becoming normal, many late night parties are arranged with couples only rules, with the most famous places being huts at Hawksbay, some empty big ass bungalow in Defence, or rented floors or basements of lounges or bars. They include the usual DJ with the dance floor, with tequila being one of the major attractions of the party. A party here without tequila is not considered a party at all. Recently a rung mela was held at a very renowned hotel at seaview, where the couples sort of played HOLI (a sort of Indian tradition of throwing colors at each other), point less as it is, people where present there in a large number, and of course the artificial rainfall after that got everyone present there in a wet and wild mood and it all gets pretty simple to understand after that. I Strongly criticize these types of events, what ever happens there is not allowed whether legally or religiously as some of the biggest sins are committed under the umbrella of having fun. I hope that the people who are indulged into these types of things, come to their senses soon.

Tough economic times call for tough decisions and usually some of the expenses have to be cut in order to survive. Fuel is as much of a basic necessity as food or water for a normal man, and raising oil prices have certainly made many people scratch their heads.
We have seen oil prices here raising upto 82 Rs per Litre, that is almost a dollar per litre. Many people tend to switch over to much resonable option, seeing the fact that diesel is now priced more than petrol, CNG is the ony alternative that people have left.
Most people who actually know cars, know the fact that CNG is as toxic to your car as nicotine is to your body. Many people stick to petrol but fear their pockets being emptied.
Here are certain tips that i would like to share, that might just give you better mileage from every last drop of petrol that you put into your car.
- First check the ratio of air fuel mixture, it should be 14:1 i.e. 14 parts of oxygen and one part of fuel. This can be check through the carburetor.
- Get your car regularly serviced, nothing improves mileage better than a well tuned engine.
- Avoid harsh driving, abrupt speeding and stopping consumes a greater amount of fuel.
- Avoid idling your engine, it wastes a great amount of gasoline.
- Always keep tyre pressure up to the mark, make sure that your tyres are not under or over inflated, this improves fuel efficency and also takes out chances of irregular wear and tear on your tyres.
- Avoid higher speeds, speeding improves your fuel consumption by 20%, avoid driving over 120 km/h. It is not safe either.
- Avoid taking short trips on your car, repeated starting and stopping of engine will also take away those extra miles.
- Use AC only when driving above speeds of 50 km/h because then air drag makes it more or less the same thing.
Acting upon these tips will surely increase your mileage and squeeze out miles from every last drop of petrol put into your car.

As Muslims, we have strong belief in the day of judgment. Meet any muslim, no matter how stoned or drunk he might be, he will still have faith in judgment day. The thing that irritates me is that yes they have faith in judgment day but they have no worries about what might happen to them if they continue their wrong doings.
Its a matter of great shame, but yes we know muslims today are as socially corrupt as any jew or christian might be. We know that we have muslims who take alcohol, we have muslims who rape, we have muslims who kill, we have muslims who conspire, true that these people bring disgrace to the name of this honourable religion.
We know that we have to face judgment day, no matter how money ladden we are or what ever festivity in life we have enjoyed, that is one thing that connects us with our after life, the life we will have the right to fully enjoy without any time limits.
Why now do we have no worry whatsoever about judgment day? Do we want our selves to be tried very harshly for all the sins that we might commit why we try to enjoy this material world of ours?
Rather we are getting worser by the minute! Alcohol is becoming common, rape and fornication is becoming a usual practice, lying and stealing are becoming part of a day's work, singing and dancing girls are being provided, people are fighting for profits, trust is used for making profit, women are literally selling themselves.
These were some signs that were told to us nearly 1430 years ago and yet the situation now is totally different. We might not know exactly when the day of judgment will be upon us, but we know one thing for sure, no matter how much we flourish in this world, we will always have to appear before the one who has made us into what we are proud to be.
I share a little video here, in it you can see that the minor signs have already occured and you can really see them happening in your daily life.
We must stop being worried about this material life, the life that we may have for 60 or 70 years, and try to make ourselves ready for judgment day so that we may be granted the eternal life in heaven where there shall be no age to our rewards.

ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to issue a final notice to the management of the Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) against its repeated failure to improve performance.
Talking to reporters after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Energy Crises here on Saturday, Water and Power Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf said the ministry was waiting for the KESC response to a Nepra show-cause notice and if there was an unsatisfactory reply and the company failed to improve its generation and distribution network the government would be compelled to take harsh measures
We cannot nationalise the KESC, but the government has majority stakes in it and can appoint a new management, he said.
Mr Ashraf said it was the responsibility of the utility to ensure regular supply of electricity to consumers.
Such prolonged outages are severely disturbing the civic life and losses to business and industrial activities have been enormous.
He said his scheduled visit to Karachi had been postponed because of a cabinet meeting on Monday and the new date would be finalised soon.
The meeting was informed that an energy efficiency fund was being set up with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank to enhance generation and distribution capacity of the energy sector.
A national energy strategy is also being formulated to utilise bio-mass and waste of energy resources and to increase the overall generation capacity.
The minister said that 1,200MW would be added to the national grid this month to ease the overstretched distribution system.
Sources said that power generation units had complained that PSO was not cooperating with them and supplies of furnace oil were not regular.
Pepco and Genco officials informed the meeting that under-repair plants were being brought online and 3,600MW would be available from newly-commissioned plants by the end of this year.
They said that Pepco was trying to enhance generation capacity through multi-dimensional generation strategy and conventional hydel and thermal sources.
Other alternative energy options were also being tapped to optimise electricity generation, they added.
The meeting was informed that many countries, including France and China, had shown interest in energy sector projects.

Get your self an estranged young man whose family has been torn apart by the war, brain wash him to the extent that he may believe than when he blows up, he is going straight to heaven and just tell him where to blow himself up, and voila! you have your self a perfectly functioning suicide bomber.
No really it is not that simple, but it might just be in a day's work for the "leaders" who prepare these people to commit such a grave sin.
These people have a certain way of brain washing these young men. They say preposterous things like "hoors" will be waiting to pick them up when they die and that they will be reunited with their loved ones in heaven. These men are tricked into believing that when they blow themselves up, they will be going straight to heaven with no questioning whatsoever.
Some are also give paper tickets to heaven when they are being trained. It is amazing how these people convince them into believing what ever false stories they cook up.
These "leaders" excite them so much that they do not think clearly, they think that whatever they are being told, is true in the light of Quran and Sunnah. They are told to blow themselves up whereas suicide is a grave sin.
Blowing yourself up and killing dozens of muslims with yourself, is not something that might earn you entry into heaven. While you might just be questioned for taking the lives of innocent muslims.
This is one such dilemma that is threatening our society and has proved to be a great threat to national security.

My name is Adnan Farooqui, I am 16 years old. Blogging is becoming more of a passion for me since i set up my first blog back in 2005, but due to my educational concerns, i was forced to drop it. Now that i have had some free time on my hand for quite a while now, i decided to set up a new blog and start all over again. The url of my blog is http://farooquiadnan.blogspot.com
Here are the questions:
Could you tell us what made you decide to blog, and what was the inspiration behind it?
My inspiration which led me to blogging would be other bloggers on the internet. I used to read many blogs on the internet but i never used to write any. I know that blogs are a great way to share information, views etc. So the urge to write a blog gradually grew in me and so i decided to step in the blogosphere once more.
What do you think sets Your blog apart from other blogs?
What I think sets my blog apart will be the shifting of topics. My blog isn’t limited to a specific topic, be it politics, entertainment etc. The way i have categorized my blog is that I share different topics from other blogs to my blog, I write my views many issues, I write about the incidents that have happened in my life or my day to day happenings, I have a section where I share songs or videos which i find to be entertaining, I have a section relating to automobiles and also a section including tutorials about many things. So I think it has to be the random content of my blog that may set it apart.
If you could choose one characteristic you have that brought you success in life, what would it be?
It would have to be my quality of being straight forward. I mean i don’t hesitate from saying what i want to say no matter what the next person might think of me, this helps when i am writing my views on a certain topic and if i wish to criticize, i may go harsh with my words in telling the truth. I thank whatever success i have had in my life is because of this.
What was the happiest and gloomiest moment of your life?
Well there have been many happy moments and there have been even more gloomy moments. I have had a passion for writing since my childhood and i used to send stories to Young Word magazine of Dawn, which used to get printed, and that used to be a very happy moment. Then ofcourse were some of the accomplishments at school and in personal life. The gloomy moments are too many to be defined, but in a nutshell i would say that it is heartbreaking when you trust someone with everything you have, and they just betray you leaving you to think that you just cannot trust anyone in this world..
Urdu Blogs have got huge potential, when do you think they will really take on the online horizon in Pakistan?
Urdu is after all, our national language. Yes i do think that urdu blogs have great potential online, but the thing is that the blogging culture in Pakistan is not that popular as compared to other countries. I mean here there are a limited number of bloggers on the internet, i know that the number of bloggers are growing by the minute here, but still it will take a lot of time for english blogs to be fully recognized, so urdu might just be the under dog for a while.
If you could pick a travel destination, anywhere in the world, with no worries about how it’s paid for - what would your top 3 choices be?
I like to travel alot, it is one of my passions, but the dream locations for me would have to be
1. Montenegro
2. Venice
3. Spain
What is your favorite book and why?
My favourite book would have to be The Long Walk by Stephen King. Its a story about the determination of some people who join a walking contest. They have to walk across the whole state and if they stop walking or pass out, they will be shot dead. Then there is the interaction between the contestants, the way they hate each other and try to make the other person loose the competition. Its a very nice book to read.
What is your favorite meal, dress, and sport?
I love chinese cuisine, it has to be present at any special event of mine. I love Pakistani food for my normal meals.
My favourite dress would be casual styled, jeans and a t-shirt
I am not that much into sports, but i like basketball a little.
Which are the top 3 places in Pakistan for honeymoon?
Pakistan is a beautiful place, and its better to have your honeymoon here rather than going to some fancy country and being broke on your return..!
The top 3 places for honeymoon in Pakistan would have to be
1. Murree
2. Kashmir
3. Kaghan
What’s the first thing you notice about a person (whether you know them or not)?
It has to be their personality. The way they present them selves and the way they talk to others. True that you cannot judge a book by its cover, a person can present a very good image of himself and pretend to be what he might not be, but still personality matters when you are meeting a new person and you can judge the character of the person.
Whose Future is more bright in Pakistan; English blogs or Urdu Blogs?
I think english blogs. Mainly because of the fact that the teenage generation is totally hooked on to english language and they find it easy to express themselves in this language. Plus not many people know how to type urdu and learning might be a difficult task for them.
How Pakistani bloggers can benefit from blogs financially?
I basically find this whole idea absurd. Not everything you do in life has to be profitable. The sole purpose of your blog should be content, not ads which can give you a little help financially. No one can support a family off a blog so why litter your blogs with unwanted ads? Almost every blog here features Google’s Adsense revenue program, and i think some bloggers are getting benefit from this service.
Do you think Pakistani bloggers tend to remain somewhat self-centered and really don’t go out of their shells? Is it the oriental style of blogging, or they are still unsure about it?
I think many bloggers here are still unsure about what they are doing. Being self-centered is an issue. Bloggers here should write about what ever that intrigues them, regardless of the facts that it may earn them criticism on the religious front or the secular front. This problem, in my view, holds back many bloggers of today.
What do you think where the Pakistani blogosphere is right now?
I think that the blogosphere in Pakistan is certainly in its formative years. People here are jumping on the blogging bandwagon but this change is coming slowly and gradually. It is a good change though, and people need to understand the importance of blogs. It might take a great amount of time before the blogging culture in Pakistan reaches its peak
Who are your top five favourite bloggers in Pakistan?
It is really hard to decide, because of the fact that i read blogs on just about every topic. In my view, the top five bloggers whom i enjoy reading will have to be
1. Nadeem F. Pracha
2. Saad Hamid
3. Imran Jafri
4. Kashif Aziz
5. Seher
Have you ever become stunned by the uniqueness of any blogger in Pakistani blogosphere?
Hands down, it has to be Nadeem F. Pracha. I follow his posts at the Dawn blog, and i have not seen such uniqueness in style of any blogger in Pakistan. I also read his columns in newspapers. The guy has a unique writing style, he has his own style of criticism and expressing his views. For me, he is one unique blogger in the Pakistani blogosphere.
What is the future of blogging in Pakistan?
It is certainly very very bright. More and more people are getting the hang of blogging here in Pakistan and i surely know that one time will come when there is a boom of bloggers and almost every other person in Pakistan will be blogging his heart out.
You have also got a blogging life, how has it directly affected both your personal and professional life?
Well i do not have much of a professional life as i have an educational life, but yes i think that my blogging life has affected my personal life. Ofcourse, it is time consuming and highly addictive! So the time that was previously spent hanging out or lounging is now spent in front of the laptop with my fingers typing away at full blast.
What are your future plans?
Well i plan on joining the medical field and going abroad for higher education. Rest assured, blogging will always remain one of my hobbies regardless of what ever i plan on doing in the future.
Any Message you want to give to the readers of The Pakistani Spectator?
Always keep your faith in what is true, never let any body control your words.
The Pakistani Spectator is doing a wonderful job in promoting the blogging culture in Pakistan. It is a great effort how they are trying to promote various bloggers in Pakistan. Also the writes at TPS give totally unbiased opinions and give us the truth no matter how bitter it may seem. I pray that TPS achieves new boundaries of success.

Every Pakistani is accustomed to the loadshedding phenomena, but i will keep Karachi, a mega metropolis bustling with industrial activities in context. People here have faced every hurdle that the Karachi Electricity Supply Corporation has hurled out to the Karachiites. May it be the June 17th blackout or the current blackouts which occurred after the recent rainfalls in karachi. Apart from these black outs, people in karachi have gone through agonizing loadshedding sessions for upto 8 hours continuous. This ultimately provokes the people to start vandalizing government and private property, resulting in losses amounting upto milions of ruppees. The official statements that are issued by the KESC say that they are facing a shortfall of so and so megawatts and there is literally nothing that can be done to put an end to it. Now the question that irks me is that when elections were in progress, February 18th was the big day, and there was no loadshedding in karachi, not for a single minute. Then recently, during the final of the T20 worldcup, there was no loadshedding. The question that pops in my mind in that from where does electricity come from on those days? does it magically start generating in the turbines? I think that production is being kept slow, so as to save as much fuel possible to increase profits. It is acknowledged that since KESC went private, the power situation in the city has worsened. What might be good for the karachiites in the future is that the KESC is nationalized again and the government has full control over the functions of the said department. The workers have an excuse of saying that the KESC is now privatized and they cannot help it if the authorities fail to provide electricity or rectify cable faults in due time. I have heard KESC workers say that when people asked them why there was no electricity in our area for Four days straight.
Nationalization is the way to go for KESC and for providing relief to the people of karachi.

i remember it was late night and i had switched on the tv only to find, shockingly though that a parliamentarian had been charged for stealing a credit card and using it. Though i had not heard of the said parliamentarian before, i was utterly shocked when i saw this. What compels someone to do an act of this sort is out of my mind. We know that these parliamentarians get paid way too much, but still you had to go and conduct this low level act of stealing. Let us see how much good this act has brought to MPA Shumaila Rana.
1. First and foremost, disgrace. How would you like to go down a street while a dozen people behind you whisper that they are in the presence of a thief?
2. OMG did we just hear you resigned? Oh come on, see what you got yourself into and also see what you got yourself out of! The Assembly!
3. Does that belong to you? Naah she probably might have stolen that too.. Its a typical Pakistani comment, when somebody compliments you on something nice that you might be wearing, other people might just retort as it being stolen.
4. Did we hear you were going to loose the party ticket? Now that is something many people would die for! Look at the bright side, atleast now you have free time!
5. Are you going to be tried in court? Really....?
Leaving all the sarcasm aside, this was a very shameful act and yes it has tampered with the already tarnished image of the country. People out side the country will think that the elected representatives of the people are thieves rather than officials. I hope that whatever image of Pakistan has been left, it survives because if our representatives keep messing up, we might not be able show are faces in the world..!

Doesn't the headline to this topic remind you of one word often used by politicians in our beloved country to woo voters just before the elections? yes the headline is the meaning to the word "Democracy" which has been derived from a greek word "Demos-Kratein" which literally means what you see in the headline of this post. This is a known fact though, that before every election in the country, when campaigning is rigorous among the different political parties contesting for the elections, often do we hear our favorite politicians chanting these words at the top of their voices and making all sorts of promises to put the country on the track of democracy". Little do the voters then know is that this so called track turns out to be something they had not imagined when they have to face the usual crisis as they did while the previous regime was in power. People are stopped from raising their voice, whether it be publicly, on tv, on radio, via blogs or online journals because they think it is a part of democracy when they are stopping people from complaining about their rights not being provided to them. People are quite familiar with the events that happened over history when time came for the people to be shown the power of the government. We have seen journalists being lashed in jails, we have seen columnists being arrested, we have seen editors taken into custody for reporting the truth. What kind of a democracy is this? When outsiders term it as "Sham Democracy" i think they have a pretty clear picture and they know what they are talking about. Our country is The Islamic Republic Of Pakistan. Our constitution is based on Islamic fundamentals, our society is purely an Islamic society. Islam and Democracy go hand in hand, we have great examples of democracy set by great Islamic rulers one such was Hazrat Umer (R.A.)
Once he was addressing a crowd in Masjid-e-Nabawi and he tried to advise and instruct women that they should keep the amount of dower low. Suddenly a woman stood up and asked him in a loud voice “Who are you to bind us? You should be afraid of Allah”. Her objection was quite right therefore Hazrat Umar (RA) immediately realised and uttered these words “thanks Allah that a woman of Madina knows better than Umar”. In fact this was the atmosphere and spirit of freedom and equality that made his Khilafat successful to such an extent that the world admitted and confessed that If Umar (RA) had lived for ten more years then there would have been only one religion on earth - that is Islam.
Now just keep this picture in mind and try to picture yourself retorting to some ridiculous policy, i am sure that it will take you all your life before you actually get a sit down with the premiers of the country and get to argue about something you think might be wrong for the country.
In my perspective, what we need is transparency, in every form of ruling, may it be legislative, may it be constitutional, may it be judicial. Our premiers need to understand the fact that they should take the say of the people in consideration if they want the public to support them continuously. We should have freedom to comment and criticize any policy, any judgment, any lawmaking with the fear of being arrested and transferred to an unknown location. That would literally turn around the fate of our country.

Really? To me this sentiment seems a bit vague. Teenage love, its all the hype these days. Visit any coffee shop, restaurant, sheesha bar or a shopping mall, its all over the place these days. Young high school kids with their girlfriends frolicking around these places showing the maximum amount of PDA one can imagine. If you think watching two couples make out at a bar which is strictly "ghetto-ish" is not enough PDA, you are probably just another retard that i have to bear like everyone else. I mean come on, you can't just possibly imagine that things might work out with a girl you first laid your eyes on when you crossed puberty. Its a known fact that guys like to "get in" real quick and then they like to "get out" even faster when something goes wrong, and after they break up with that alleged soul mate of their's, they start looking for a (so called) rebound "Love Affair". While girls see the other side of the picture, the one that guys always want to stay hidden. THE FUTURE! yes it the worst nightmare of every guy who has been in a relationship with smokin' hot booty, has made out with smokin' hot booty like a gazilion times and has touched every part reachable to mankind of smokin' hot booty. (Note to the guys *smokin' hot booty is that so called hawt girlfriend of yours) while miss smokin' hot booty has planned on having five children, has thought of their names, has thought of the city you would be moving to after you guys "tie the knot" and has even decided what kind of a dog she will be getting for the children. Reality check douchebags! its all B.S.! Guys come on, have you no dignity? how can you go around snogging each and every girl you have ever gone out with and fight a guy who tries to go out with your own sister? As you sow so shall you reap you ignorant douchebags!. Its a thing both the teenage genders need to realize, and the thing is that wake up! literally this isnt an episode of 90210, you guys are not unreligious infidels who are filthy stinkin' rich, this goes against the rules of the society you reside in and the society you are a part of. Guys please, show some morality you morons, if you really "Love" your teenage puppy lovey dubbey sweetie cutie pie crush, then stay with the thought of being with her even when you can't take a trip to your shitter on your own! rather than talking to her at night whilst that projector at the back of your head shows you making out with the extremely hot chick that joined your tution yesterday....
I am not saying that everyone is like this, i personally know some people who have remained true to their commitments despite the problems, but come the F on people, this is the ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF PAKISTAN! you guys are representing a religion here, show some respect and honour a*holes!
The composition of this post wasnt to disheart the young romeo's out there, but i stand by my argument of satisfying your sexual urges with a girl who might just think that you might be the one for her, just for the sake of doing it and just for the "status" you will be getting from your friends when they hear that you made out with a girl on whom half of mankind has a crush, and seriously guys, that is something not meant for sharing in your community when you are lucky enough on seizing the moment, ask those who havnt had a chance yet, i am sure you would be utterly surprised by their responses when you tell them that you are going public with you sexual experiences.
*PDA is short for Public Display Of Affection.

Pakistan Ministers Party in New York While People are Displaced From Swat
0 comments Posted by Farooqu| at 3:09 AMFederal Ministers Qamar Zaman Kaira and Nazir Gondal accompanied President Asif Ali Zardari on his party cum begging tour of the world. While a military action initiated in Swat and Malakand, hundreds of thousands displaced from their homes and the country was going through its worst humanitarian crisis, the ministers, paid by the public to protect their interests, were partying in New york.
According to Pakpoint, the Ministers visited an Indian night club called Ghunghroo Night Club in New York city. They spent about 16,000 USD on Indian Dance Girls in the night club.
The Nation reported a federal minister of Pakistan was in New York on Saturday night on a private trip, where he went to a club at 40 Second Street, a famous tourist resort of Manhattan. Some “goras” misbehaved with the minister which enraged him too. However, the matter was checked in time and minister’s friends took him out of the club.
People of Pakistan should be the judge. See how democracy prevails. You have voted for these scumbags who flush public money on personal luxuries. What a shame.

As you all know that the monsoon season is upon us, we have already received the first installment of rains from above, with every day getting darker and darker cloud wise, we are surely going to have some torrential rains coming up in the near future. After all this is Karachi, the city which literally floods itself even when it only rains for an hour, and our cars are usually trudging along roads with bonnet high level of water on most major roads. It is essential for the durability and long running of your car that you go through certain procedures after your car has been literally "attacked" by massive amounts of water. I have created a sort of to-do list which is mandatory to be applied in order to maintain the car. I am also writing about some security features that you can adapt to make you drive safe in the rain.
1. Wiper blades: An essential component to maintain if you plan on taking those long drives while it is raining. Old wiper blades will not clean your windscreen effectively, and the rain water coupled with the dirt on your windscreen will obscure your vision badly making it unsafe for you to drive in a situation where visibility is very low. During such a season, have your wiper blades checked and replaced if they need to be, they are not the expensive and will help a ton.
2. Tyre Pressure: Make sure that the tyres on your car are properly inflated, improper inflation of tyres not only causes uneven wear on the tyres, but it increases the chances of your car slipping or sliding when you brake in an emergency situation on wet or damp roads. Be sure to have your tyres properly inflated, correct P.S.I for your specific tyre will be engraved into the sidewall of your tyre. Normally 30 P.S.I is used for most tyre types. *P.S.I stands for Pounds Per Square Inch.
3. Brake Pads or Calipers: These things are just as important as any other part of the car, old or worn brake pads will take longer to stop your car during an emergency braking situation. The state of the calipers can be judged very easily, if whilst braking, you hear a sqeaky sound everytime, it is for sure that your brake pads have been worn out and replacing them should be on top of your agenda. If you have noticed such sounds during driving, you should avoid driving at particularly high speeds in bad weather conditions.
4. Switch lights to parking mode: Often while it is raining, it tends to get foggy and visibility gets very poor, therefore leading to accidents. In order to warn other drivers about your presence on the road, you should have your lights turned on to parking mode, that is one turn of the light stick in your car, some models have buttons for every mode. Just to be safe, you should also turn on your hazard warning lights.
5. Do Not Overspeed: Overspeeding is hazardous even in good conditions, but in damp conditions, overspeeding can prove to be fatal both to you and other drivers on the road. In wet road conditions, your car might slip or skid when you drive rashly, keeping low speed is essential for a safe drive home.
6. Seatbelts: This may not be associated with helping you drive safe during rain, but this the most essential component of all. ALWAYS wear your seatbelts, they might save your life in a bad situation.
1. Full Service: Have your car thoroughly washed and cleaned after the season is over, while driving in the rain, the underside of the car gets muddy, and if you have driven in high levels of water, water may have entered inside your car, have it washed, vacuumed and shampooed to get that sparkling feel back.
2. Get the Engine Bay cleaned: You might be in for a scare when you pop the hood after driving through rain water mixed with mud. Though it will be done when your car gets fully serviced, make sure they pressure wash your engine bay and spray it.
3. Have Anti-Rust sprayed on the underside: Excessive amount of exposure to water may corrode the underside of your car, if not instantaneously, it will corrode gradually. It is better to have anti-rust treatment sprayed to your car, or go a more economical way and after your car has been washed from underneath, have diesel sprayed on the underside.
4. Modulate your brakes: Have the pads modulated after your car has been washed, maybe even rotated to get more effective braking.
5. Have Tyres Aligned: Not a necessary measure to adopt after rainfall, but its better to have it checked after every three months or so, you might just be noticing negative chamber in your car and wondering why it might be happening.
That's it, some basic precautionary measure you need to adopt, you will be safer on the road and can enjoy driving in the rain, and your car will be harmed as well. As i finish writing this, i have just noticed that it is raining outside :)
If you have any more queries regarding this, you can E-mail me
Peace!

Should Sex Education Be Given to Pakistani Girls and Boys?
0 comments Posted by Farooqu| at 11:35 PMHaving sex is the right of every human being. Enjoying it without fear and any intimidation within the marital boundaries is what happiness is all about. Regardless of the debate of having sex within and outside the marriage boundaries, which is different for different religions, the question is whether should the girls and boys in Pakistan be given sex awareness in schools and colleges?
I am not really saying that the girls and boys should be handed over condoms in schools and colleges and allow them having intercourse. It’s just that not talking about sex is not actually barring anyone from having it. Rather this is creating numerous problems such as rapes, child-abuse and other social evils.
When a child knows what sex really is, and what it means and what are the downsides and what are the postive sides, and when it is ok to have it and when its not, then this topic will no longer could be used by the pedophiles and other perverts to net the innocent kids. This would also keep children on their toes to be warned of strangers and the relatives alike.
We need a generation who is confident and doesn’t think way too much about intracacies of sex and who take it as yet another human need instead of wondering and getting abused due to it.

*The above photos shows the crowd around a kesc truck which came to the locality after 3 days of consistent power breakdown in the Badar and Shahbaz areas.
Thanks to Ijaz for the images.
On Friday evening, Karachi witnessed a cloudy day, with black clouds looming in the skies above threatening to rain, was only just what people had wished for. I took my usual drive down the infamous "Do Darya" (a remote point of the seaside) or better known to the people as DP. As the weather was pleasant with the much longed for chilly breeze blowing, there was a huge crowd there, everyone from families with 12 children to high school children on their make believe dates with their alleged "soul mates". Then came Friday night or Saturday morning, with the city getting rain in the wee hours of the night marking the start of the so called monsoon season for Karachi. I am damn sure that many people had wished for this rain to be majestically bestowed upon the karachiites. One thing is for certain that we, the more sensible of all karachiites, think of the mess and (honestly speaking) the sh*t we get into whenever it rains in Karachi. Whoever thinks that knee deep water, submerged houses, back flowing drains, water filled underpasses are a blessing in disguise, needs a reality check and a kick on the as* from my side. I have seen my fair share of rain and snow in Murree, believe me I have been caned on the as* with an iron rod in negative thirteen degree centigrade (-13°C) while it was raining with hail, and whatever you think you have done is painful you are probably just another F*ing retard. So wishing for rain here in Karachi just isn’t my piece of cake. Is it just me or whenever all hell breaks loose over the city, I am left alone to deal with the troubled times. Take July 17, 2009 for example, the day when all of Karachi was left without electricity for about 12 to 16 hours and I had to spend the whole night on top a ledge protruding from a overhead water storage tank, having to bear the lovey dovey talk of a friend with his girlfriend. I had surely wished to die there and then. The same thing happened this Saturday with everyone leaving for the village to witness the extraction of a new born child from within the depths of one family friend’s daughter. (And yes what you just read was sarcasm). I willingly excused my self from the little trip, hoping to get some free time to kill with some friends with out the tension of reporting back after every call. So Saturday was mostly a day spent outside of the house, with me having no intentions of getting wet in the rain, I called a close friend, took the wheel of his car, thought the most slow car I have driven till now, and drove through the whole morning and afternoon. What surprised my friend was my occasional hitting of his car’s steering wheel and yelling of “bhaag paro bhaag” whenever I thought that the car was dropping speed, this continued until I got a smack on the head telling me that paro was the long lost love of devdas, while this was the car bought from the hard earned money of his father, so I should respect that or step out of the car immediately. Seeing my options closed, I chose to turn up the volume and drive on, while an unusual smirk on my face bothered my dear friend very much!. All was well till that moment, I went back home, picked up my own car, picked up some friends of mine, headed to a usual hangout, ordered the usual things and watched the rain, which had picked up much speed by then. As fate would have it, my phone was dead, by dead I mean literally dead, it wouldn’t start or anything, so I was basically out of the house and incommunicado. For those of you who know me, might just know what I might get into even though no one was in Karachi. I, trusting my instincts, knew that I should head home because I knew my landline would be ringing off the hook and I would be in deep sh*t if it was not answered within the three call limit!. So this naturally meant that I would have to run through the rain, as taking my car was not an option because the roads were flooded with water and I couldn’t risk my engine getting stalled. Leaving it parked there, I vaguely remember picking up my jeans and running mad all the way in knee deep water from Saba Avenue all the way to Shahbaz with rain coming down as fast as it could. Though i thought that the new wallet I had bought was too over priced and I had been ripped off, but it held up pretty well in the rain and I actually found out that it was indeed original leather :D. I reached home, soaking head to foot, I was pretty surprised to see that we still had electricity. After a little while, there was a big bang in the transformer across the road and there went my electricity for four, yes FOUR! Whole days. As fate would have it, my generator literally fried it self, I mean I could see yellow flames from inside the generator after what seemed to be half an hour from the transformer blast. I knew I had no luck because it was night, and the next day was Sunday. So then began my agonizing wait for the electricity, I was getting rumors about cable faults along the entire Shahbaz region, which made it even worse. Monday came with me calling the repair guy like a million times until I lost it and told him to go screw himself, then I knew that I was not getting electricity any time soon. Somebody tipped me off that they were going to vandalize the kesc office at badar, I went along, threw some stones, said some pretty bad words at the top of our voices but still Monday went with no electricity. That was the limit, I found out that tyres were being arranged and a full scale riot was being planned behind kfc, what better did I have to do ? Though i avoided driving down that locality later the same night concerning fears of my car being stoned and burnt, after all it is the second love of my life :p I confirmed my presence with the people, burnt tyres along the roads, blocking the whole of the 26th street at around 1 am in the night. The best part was the chanting of slogans, the most hilarious of those I heard were “kesc ki maa ka p*****!” and ”maa c***** bijli waloun ki!” with the occasional chorus of “bijli doh! Bijli doh!” it was really worth it as electricity to the area was restored at around 6 in morning. I woke up at 7 and am still typing this blog post. Rest assured, if I hear anyone telling me that we need more rain, he is going to have his head up his own as*!
Peace everyone!

This society, the one that we live in, we deal with many kinds of people, mostly selfish people and most likely those people who will take advantage of you and then would not even remember your name. One thing in which the people of our society excel in is deceiving and shifting blames from unto them selves to others who might not necessarily be ones to be blamed. Since this blog is one where i share my experiences and observations, i've managed to collect many observations on this matter. About a week back i took the usual route to pick up one of my friends from his place, as i was about to take a right turn, i saw shards of glasses littered upon the road and the sight of carnage that had taken place between two cars was there to be seen. I do not know that a fight had ensued between the owners of the cars or not, but i could clearly see that both of them were not to be blamed in their eyes. The question i ask is that would it hurt you to tell the truth? or would it kill you if you accept that something you did was your mistake.

Its more of a phase that strikes with such a force that even i am not able to handle my own limits to breaking the law and literally losing my sense!. Same thing happened today, I happened to be down because of the sudden wave of flu that had hit me when i woke up in the afternoon, (yes the afternoon! i am called INSOMNIAC :p) till i asked a friend of mine to accompany me to a snooker club where i usually spend my afternoons. We played ( i kicked ass :d )till a friend of our texts us tell us to meet them at our adda. Since i was not decent, i headed home to change and become more like a human rather than a dog i look after i wake up :p, then from there on things went as the usually would have went. Us loading into one car even thought each person has a "dignified" car of their own. Then there is the collection of "chanddah" to put fuel in the car. What happened today was sort of unusual as we kind of started a fight with the most maila group we had seen, though i was in the mood for something to happen but a friend of mine told us that "hum mailoun ko mu nahi lagate", so i had to give the whole thing up. Then came the time of asking for lifts from the weirdest of people one could ever imagine of meeting. This was happening after our visit to the golf club then we were basically patrolling the roads near golf club looking for some mischief. We took lifts from tractors and cranes (yes big cranes on trucks!) while our driver was driving the car right beside the lift vehicle :p. Then one of us would go around the houses and pluck flowers from their gardens for a "special friend" (hope i live after this :p).
I must say that dangling from a wire on a truck carrying a big crane is kind of dangerous when you come to think of it after your mind reaches a more stable state.
I wish my phone was able to record videos and stuff, because i myself would like to tape these "little" adventures of ours.
Now i must go and take my regular late night drive down the beach now, :)
Peace!

With summer vacations well under way, each and every school in my beloved hometown karachi has been closed and the so called "tafreeh" season is well underway. I have met many many people from all around Pakistan, some of them proved to be very good friends and others went bizarre back biting assholes, but the group i value and respect the most has been with me practically my whole life. I remember my very first day when i joined school in prep class and on the same day started friendship with some of the most remarkable people that i have ever met. Since that day, it has been 11 years and we have never had fights or disputes. These friends have been with me through thick and thin, through all the difficulties of life. Among these friends is one whose opinion i value very much and whose advises have helped me alot in recent times. Today was just like and other day, the same usual hangout, the same usual time pass and the same usual friends rather brothers if i may say so...
Today was a rather odd day considering conversations, i mean i started off with remembering how one of my friends used to bend his back and we used to arm wrestle on his back during the practices of school plays. Then one thing led to another and i do not know how the thing led to the topic of relationships (though we had none back then), me staying quiet during the whole conversation earned me some "looks" because i never really like to elaborate my personal life and problems. I drifted off in my thoughts during the conversation and heard my name being mentioned once or twice. Though the conversation lasted for like 5 minutes or so, i wasn't really paying that much attention. Then we talked about the friends that had totally gone into hiding and we knew nothing about where they were studying or where they were living. Then we were joined by another one of our friends, who seems to have recently joined the group and the old memories were pitched to the side..
I have to say that i have been on and off with these friends of mine, due to me living miles away, but the thing i appreciate the most is that whenever we meet, be that 3 months or a whole year, we never have to make a fresh start, only it gets better and the friendships get stronger and stronger each time.
I feel privileged to have such great friends who have stood by me in my time of need and who have never left my side whatever might have come...
Adnan.
P.S.: This post goes out to my oldest friends Hamza and Qasim, and now we share a more stronger bond than ever before :)

I have been out of the so called "party" scene in karachi due to my hostel and shit, but we were thankfully put off by the authorities for like 3 months so i was back in my home town and i was here to be. So we did the usual stuff, me and my buddies.. american sundi is one of the greatest :d, we had our cars, we hung out, we blocked up traffic on main roads, it is safe to say that we had our fair share of fun. On one not so uneventful day, we were just chilling at a bar at on of the localities we usually visit and we were rather surprised when two people came up to us and as we were playing card games, they asked whether they could play with us, it was fun basically but our rules were different from their's so there was a bit of conflict at first but it all worked out. We hung out for about 2 hours, got to know each other pretty well, both of them turned out to be very good people. We traded numbers and soon after that its been pretty much of a daily basis sort of thing, we meet at the same place every evening then we do stupid stuff =p I must say that of all the people i have met, here and abroad and in all the cities of Pakistan, i have never met such people who are so much fun and are very open minded.
One such "incident" of ours that i would like to quote here happened yesterday when we willfully got ourselves stranded in the middle of nowhere we sat on the dividers and took pics, enjoyed the picturesque view and did some acrobatics on the road in front of the high speed traffic..
All in all it was fun, its fun being back and meeting new people and making new friends who might last for a long time :)

The concept of blogging has created a lot of hype in this decade but i am afraid we here in Pakistan do not have people who follow these kinds of journals. I set up my first blog back in 2003 when i was totally indulged in the internet fraternity and of course that was before i decided to commit social suicide and join a military training institution. The fact that my previous blog did not get as many followers (and by as many i mean none :p), downhearted me so much that i closed down my blog and vowed to never blog again never in my life. Seeing recent events, the temptation to start blogging again arised once more so here i am making a fresh start in the Blogosphere and looking forward to dominating it :D
