Well ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, what do ya know! Its raining again in our beloved city of lights, Kawachee!

For many residents of this great city, Rain sort of becomes a misery than a blessing. Why? All thanks to the crappy sewerage and drainage system laid out by the crappy people who build the public infrastructure ofcourse! If it wasn't for these public money gouging bastards, people would actually enjoy rain, just like they do in England. Hell I enjoy rain when I'm in England, and boy, that place gets more rain in one day than Karachi could get even in a year!

Though it may be kept in mind that this is Season 2 of the Karachi Rains, and most likely the premier, which means that many more rainy days are expected to follow suit. Now let's look back to Season 1 of the Karachi rains. Well a friend of mine had over 3 feet water inundating his house, only because it was lower than the street level, hence once again, the over-weight, over-paid civil engineers do their jobs flawlessly of making our lives miserable. Season 1 was a nightmare for me. My car, which I waded through waist deep water only because I had a conference to attend, ended up in a pretty bad shape. The electrical wiring of my house got fried I don't know why. I missed a flight and the only thing left from total devastation was that the stock market didn't crash (like i normally does).

So well, here I was, quietly watching a movie, not bothering anyone when I get a text saying dude its raining outside! I was awestruck! Dumbfounded! Because I know things are gonna get nasty. How? Well all thanks to PTCL's stupid strike, the landlines are dead since past 2 weeks, so I won't worry about that. What is damn worrying my ass of is electricity, because we know all too well how much KESC is capable of doing. I once spent 4, yes 4 straight days without electricity after it had rained, so I'm not taking any chances this time letting it slip out of my mind, which means all phones, mp3 players, laptops and portable DVD players have been fully charged, just in case. I pray my car doesn't get all slimy and smelly because I just had it serviced day before YESTERDAY! Crossing my fingers on that one..

Well it seems the blessing turned misery is once again upon us, there's nothing we can do than just sit back, relax, grab a nice window with a view and watch the city drown slowly. You can light your favourite smoke while you're at it.

Adnan.
